The fab's zone was also made a deemed inland container depot, which is what makes the imports work
The same notification appoints the Dholera special economic zone a deemed inland container depot under section 7 of the Customs Act, 1962, with effect from 9 April 2026.
Confirmed by an official document: a government release, a filing, or the company's own published statement.
An inland container depot is a place away from a port where customs clearance can happen. Making the zone a deemed one means imported equipment can be cleared at Dholera itself rather than at a coastal port and then trucked in under bond. For a chip plant, which imports nearly all its machinery and where a single lithography tool arrives as a convoy of crates, that is the practical difference between a paper concession and a working one.
