The fab's special economic zone was approved three weeks before it was notified
The gazette notification records that the letter of approval for the Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing zone at Dholera was granted on 17 March 2026 under section 3(10) of the Special Economic Zones Act, ahead of the notification itself on 9 April 2026.
Confirmed by an official document: a government release, a filing, or the company's own published statement.
An approval and a notification are two different steps. The letter of approval is the decision to grant the zone. The notification is the legal instrument that brings it into effect and is published in the Gazette of India. Press coverage generally reports the second and skips the first.
This wire already carries an entry on the notification, dated 14 April 2026 and sourced to press coverage. This entry is the earlier step, taken from the gazette itself. We have left the earlier entry alone rather than rewriting its date, and cross-linked the two, because quietly changing a published entry is exactly what this site says it will not do.
