DeshGujarat reported on 18 July 2026 that DICDL plans a 200 million litre a day seawater desalination plant for Dholera and has begun appointing a consultant to prepare a feasibility assessment and a detailed project report.

Be clear about what stage this is. There is no plant, no contractor, no cost and no date. A detailed project report is the document that comes before a project is designed, tendered or funded, so the 200 MLD figure is a planning target and is labelled as one.
The description covers renewable energy integration, zero liquid discharge, recovery of resources from the brine, full automation and digital engineering including a digital twin. Desalination is the obvious answer to Dholera's water problem and also the expensive one, which is why the feasibility study is the news rather than the capacity.
As of 11 August 2026 the consultancy for this report is a live tender on the DICDL board with a submission deadline of 13 August 2026, and a separate tender for a 50 MLD plant is open alongside it.
