Gujarat plans a voltage stabiliser at a new 400 kV Dholera substation

A STATCOM is equipment that holds grid voltage steady by injecting or absorbing reactive power very quickly. It matters where a lot of solar and wind feeds in, because renewable output moves faster than conventional plant can respond, and it matters where the load is sensitive, which a semiconductor fab certainly is. Gujarat's first STATCOM was commissioned at Timbdi in Gir Somnath on 5 March 2019.
